Title: “An Eco-Village For Arts, Sports, and Holistic Healing”
Date: October 27, 2026, Tuesday
Time: 12.30-13.20
Venue: FF Building, FFB22
Abstract
This seminar presents a conceptual, research-based eco-village proposal for a potential island setting in Dubai. Integrating environmental psychology, Attention Restoration Theory, and biophilic design, the project explores how the built environment can support human wellbeing, creativity, connection with nature. Drawing on international ecovillage precedents, including Findhorn Ecovillage, Masdar City, and Crystal Waters, the proposal examines sustainable infrastructure, climate-responsive design, water conservation, and renewable energy alongside spaces for arts, recreation, wellness, and restorative living. Particular attention is given to translating theoretical principles into spatial strategies that respond to Dubai’s arid climate and support human centered approach to sustainable development. The seminar concludes by discussing the project’s potential applications in interior architecture education, interdisciplinary research, and future sustainable community design.
